During the Techport Croissant Networking Breakfast on 13 March, Charlotte, HR specialist, had a conversation with Gen Z’er Priscilla, online marketing specialist.
No assumptions, but insights straight from practice: how this generation views work and makes choices.
Where does Gen Z look for job vacancies? Primarily via LinkedIn. But… it doesn't stop there.
Before applying, they often look beyond just the job advert: from social media to the team atmosphere. Platforms like TikTok are increasingly playing a role in getting a feel for an organisation.
- What does the company look like?
- Who will I be working with?
- Does this suit me?
It's not just the function that counts, but especially the feeling. In addition, freedom and flexibility are important, combined with trust and responsibility.
And that well-known assumption? That Gen Z is lazy? That's not true.
When a role is a really good fit for you, you'll go the extra 100% for it and are often willing to go the extra mile when necessary. As Priscilla herself says: “I'm really doing what I enjoy now, so I don't mind working in the evenings or at weekends.’
