Good news for energy transition in IJmond! The Nova College receives almost €1.1 million from the Regional Investment Fund (RIF) mbo for the project Sustainable Energies IJmond. The project will broaden and deepen the mbo-technology course on the Beverwijk campus into a full curriculum focused on green energy - including hydrogen, solar and wind energy.

Nova College is the first in the Netherlands to train real hydrogen experts at MBO level. Students can choose from graduation profiles and optional modules on energy generation, storage and carriers. The programme thus meets the growing demand for well-trained professionals with knowledge of sustainable forms of energy.

Energy, technology and education: accelerating together

Programme manager Edward Straus stresses the importance: "The energy transition in IJmond makes the already acute shortage of technical staff even more urgent. Especially technicians with knowledge of sustainable energy are scarce. Without them, the transition simply grinds to a halt. And technical teachers are also becoming scarcer. With this programme, we are working together on the solution."

The project is a collaboration between Nova College, Techport, MyTec Companies Foundation, a number of technical companies, Inholland University of Applied Sciences and several vo- and vmbo schools in the region, including Technisch College Velsen and Dali College.
