At MyTec, we believe that co-creation between education and business is the key to good technical education. That is why we work closely with ROC Nova College on the unique, joint secondary vocational education programme MyTec.
Since 2014, Stichting MyTec-Bedrijven (formerly Stichting Leer Werken in de Techniek) has been active in a long-term partnership with Nova College to train engineering students in a broad and practice-oriented way. The aim of MyTec-Bedrijven is to reduce the quantitative and qualitative gap between engineering graduates and the needs of companies, so that students and companies are even better prepared for the challenges of the future.
The MyTec programme is a four-year MBO level 4 programme in which students are given a broad basis in technology and the opportunity to specialise in areas such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, operational engineering and service technology. Theory is linked to practice from day one, through assignments, excursions and internships at the affiliated MyTec companies.
Our cooperation with companies in the region is intensive: participants give guest lectures, offer internships and provide practical assignments. In this way, students experience early on how engineering works in the real world. The companies invest time, knowledge and resources, leading to better connections between education and work.
MyTec is not a static programme: through modular education and co-development with companies, there is room to respond to new technological developments - such as sustainability, smart maintenance and specialisations such as wind energy - and students can obtain additional certificates appropriate to these current fields.
With this approach, we strive to be one of the best engineering courses in the Netherlands - one that together helps students, education and business advance in the world of tomorrow.
