With the AEWaveHexapod, we convert wave energy into electrical energy. The Hexapod floats on three buoys, with two robotic arms as legs on each buoy. These are the generators that convert wave motion into energy. We chose this design because a hexapod moves best with the waves.

The hexapods hang from a self-designed triangular platform. We call this the submersible. This way, the hexapod is safely anchored between wind turbines. The generators use the existing offshore infrastructure. In that location, they can quadruple the annual output of the sea surface on which a wind farm stands. It is also possible to link the hexapods to depreciated wind farms, to continue using existing networks as well. And with the submersible, you can get to places where electricity is not readily available. So we can use the hexapod to power oil platforms further out at sea, for instance.

Why partner with Techport?

When we received a JTF cheque for our pilot as a Dordrecht company last July, it was obvious that we should join Techport. Above all, we hope to transfer a lot of knowledge to the region and fill the gap left by the wind.
