In a short time, Techport, together with a number of partners, has launched three promising projects in the field of labour market and HR: the pilot of the Techport Technology Garden, the Strategic HR project and the collaboration project Techport Techheroes. Programme leader Action Line Working Suzan Buss: "These projects allow SMEs in the region to start recruiting, retaining and developing staff in various ways. This is badly needed, because the energy transition in North Holland alone will require more than 12,000 extra employees until 2030."

Techoes: interest and motivation is enough
On Thursday, July 4, the project went Techport Techheroes launched; a people-centred collaboration with five innovative Techport companies. Techheroes is interesting for anyone who wants to work in IJmond technology. Experience is not important, what counts is interest and motivation. The project brings interested people into contact with the companies involved in an accessible way. Together, we look at what technical skills are needed and what might be a suitable position. Should it turn out after a while that there is no match after all, the participant can start working at one of the other companies. The companies participating in Techhelden are: BLOK System Supply, Facta, Facta Electrical Engineering, Hoogewerf Engineering b.v.. and KUUK.

Techport Technique Garden: pilot completed, four participants get contract
On Tuesday 2 July, after a 12-week journey, the pilot Techport Technology Garden concluded. The Technique Garden is aimed at getting new entrants to actually start in a technical profession. The focus in this pilot was on lateral entrants with a distance to the labour market. The nine participants were given technology lessons at the Nova Campus in Beverwijk, received guest lessons from companies and did internships. Four of the nine participants were given a contract with one of the participating companies and 10 participants remain in engineering. They all received a certificate of participation. We are all very proud of this result! The Techniektuin IJmond is a collaboration of Techport, The province of North Holland, WerkgeversServicePunt ZKIJ, Haprotech Welding Training and the Nova College in Beverwijk. A new pilot will start in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Strategic HR: SMEs actively working on HR policy
The tight labour market and in particular the shortage of technically skilled staff calls for employers to actively engage with their HR policies. With the Strategic HR Techport facilitates strategic HR services for SMEs. To this end, two strategic HR advisers are deployed who will advise the companies, think along with them and put them in touch with relevant parties and services. Examples include creative ways of recruiting, advice on retaining employees and tips for improving staff development and mutual knowledge sharing. The HR advice and deployment is tailor-made and therefore different for each company. Thanks to a contribution from the Just Transition Fund, the Province of North Holland and the RBA South-Kennemerland IJmond this project was recently launched. The ultimate goal of Strategic HR is to help 75 companies with their HR issues in three years.
