Organization & team
In 2013, it became clear that the national shortage of technicians also affects the IJmond region. Among other things, the rise of popular educational fields such as economics meant that fewer and fewer young people chose engineering. An aging population also threatened to make specific technological knowledge disappear. Moreover, it became clear that the training courses were in danger of missing the connection with companies and the technology of the future. This prompted parties from business, government and education to join forces and establish Techport. Ten years later, with over 100 member companies and schools, it is impossible to imagine the IJmond region without Techport.
Techport is a foundation and operates from the Techport Innovation Centre in IJmuiden with a team of permanent and freelance employees. The supporting partners provide the basic funding: municipality of Velsen, province of North Holland, ROC Nova College, Tata Steel and Crown van Gelder. These organizations are represented on the Techport Steering Committee.
In 2023 the Techport Multi-Year Strategy was drawn up with the mission: Together towards the first green industrial zone of the Netherlands. You can read about the results we achieved in 2023 in the Public Annual Report 2023.
