"Valuable developments for the future of tech companies"

Together with technical companies and students, Oskar Diergaarde works on behalf of SKF B.V. on various data-driven projects at Fieldlab Smart Maintenance Techport. Within Fieldlab we are working on 100% predictable maintenance of installations in the manufacturing and process industry. SKF B.V. has many years of expertise in bearings, therefore they are able to realize good maintenance management solutions.

SKF B.V. has traditionally had a lot of knowledge of products and services around maintenance and conditions of machines. Oskar: "We are the largest bearing supplier in the world and have our own research center. We like to share our knowledge with engineering students and companies. A recent example is a project where we mounted sensors on rotating equipment and mapped these signals in combination with process data."

New technological developments through pooling of knowledge

As a partner of Techport, SKF B.V. considers it important to connect knowledge and data to promote technological developments and a sustainable future. Oskar: "Sustainability plays a big role at SKF B.V.. Think about reusing bearings and lubricants or making materials lighter by making ceramic bearings instead of steel ones, for example."

Connection between data and business issues

The projects worked on consistently within Fieldlab are particularly focused on the questions: What can I do with the data, can we make connections and act on them? Oskar: "So we have been working on different projects for a couple of years now, trying to use results and data for various issues. For example, you can help companies by sharing this data including analyses and indicating what they need, for example, information about the residual life of machines.

Adding value to tech companies together

Oskar: "We were able to use data from a number of companies to test a calculation model that is now being used in practice for other issues. A very meaningful data-driven approach in which we were able to demonstrate our added value. We are proud of that as a partner of Techport! In addition, we experienced the cooperation with the other participating companies as very pleasant. It is wonderful to offer added value to technical companies through this joint approach."
