Member of Parliament Sophie Hermans and council member of the municipality of Velsen Cas Schollink draw inspiration from Techport

Sophie Hermans and Cas Schollink (No. 2 and No. 75 on the VVD list) visited Techport on Thursday, Nov. 16, to get an update on working together to make industry more sustainable and the role of innovation and education in this.

IJmond is facing major changes in the coming years. Our manufacturing industry is working hard towards a fossil-free future and the North Sea Canal area is developing into an indispensable hub in the transition to hydrogen and for the construction and maintenance of offshore wind. This is only possible with innovative business, excellent technical education and a labor market that is ready for the future.

Within Techport, entrepreneurs, educational institutions and governments are working together to create the green industrial zone of our country. Where we make our manufacturing industry more sustainable through the use of hydrogen and new technologies. Where companies and schools work together on innovations in renewable energy, smart maintenance and the economy of the future. With the best educated technical workforce in our country, innovative SMEs and a large network of people with a heart for technology.

For this, cooperation is badly needed. With Brussels, The Hague and the region we are taking up this gauntlet. To witness this, Sophie Hermans and Cas Schollink (numbers 2 and 75 on the VVD list for the Lower House elections on November 22) came to Velsen-Noord on Thursday, November 16, to be updated on all the developments at the mouth of the North Sea Canal at Techport.

After a presentation on how the Techport network is working together regionally on 'the first green industrial zone of the Netherlands' and a tour of the Tata Academy and the Fieldlab Smart Maintenance, Ms. Hermans and Mr. Schollink went home informed and inspired.
