Techport wins SME!DEE for training maintenance engineer of the future
On Monday, December 2, four Techport companies received a check from State Secretary Mona Keizer for the MKB!dee project Masterclass Smart Maintenance Techport. The subsidy MKB!dee is a national contribution for projects of SME entrepreneurs in the region, aimed at lifelong development of employees.
The four Techport companies GWOC, Microtechnology, Facta and the Learning Engineer, together with Techport and House of Skills, ROC Nova College and a number of large manufacturers from the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area are developing a Masterclass Smart Maintenance with a focus on training the maintenance engineer of the future. A retraining and refresher course with a focus on e-learning, augmented reality, skills development, informal learning and learning in the industrial (customer) context.
The smarter design of maintenance processes is becoming the distinguishing factor for the Dutch manufacturing industry: from planned or corrective maintenance to predictive smart maintenance (Smart Maintenance). The maintenance engineer must therefore develop continuously: new professional knowledge (hard skills), but above all learning to look differently at maintenance models in which data is leading. This requires a change in behavior. Because data is becoming more leading in the work of the maintenance engineer, making the position of maintenance engineer interesting also for lateral entrants.
MKB!dee
MKB!dee helps entrepreneurs invest in staff training and development. Entrepreneurs who came up with an innovative solution to improve the skills of their staff could apply for a financial contribution earlier this year. The grant is not a training budget, but a one-time contribution to solve bottlenecks among SMEs.
