Techport Home Stay Dinner

On Tuesday, April 21, 2020, Techport together with 3D Makers Zone and Smart Industry provided an original dinner for SMEs on the theme of Digital Twinning. Due to current circumstances, the dinner became a stay-at-home edition. The food was delivered to the participants' homes, the conversation took place online.

Representatives of SME companies or suppliers in the manufacturing and maintenance industry from the IJmond and Haarlem region were invited to the dinner. Around 5 p.m., dinner was delivered to the 30 participants' homes by the new Haarlem restaurant Miyagi and Jones.

Even before the first course, Wilfried Hoffman of Axionomic took the participants through the basics of Digital Twinning. Digital Twinning is a collective term for all kinds of applications in which physical objects are linked to digital models. In this way, a physical product or process acquires a "digital double.

After the appetizer was eaten, Theo Koster of Techport and Herman van Bolhuis of 3D Makers Zone entered into a conversation with Mark Denys, director of Quality Tata Steel Europe, about the role of Digital Twinning at the steel company. Around 6 p.m., the main course was "served" and participants interacted with each other.

Dessert was eaten at the same time at 6:30 p.m. and at 7 p.m. the dinner was rounded off with a homemade cup of coffee and the participants were able to start washing up. "It was a new, but mostly fun experience to dine together in this way. Of course it took some getting used to, but the atmosphere was good right away. As far as we are concerned, this tastes like more," Theo Koster said afterwards.

Co-organizer Herman van Bolhuis is also enthusiastic about the dinner: "We know that the Netherlands is among the countries with the best ICT infrastructure, but that the industry does not yet make optimal use of the possibilities. With this way of meeting, the industry shows that it really is digital."
