TECHPORT SCHOOLS WORK TOGETHER
Elementary school the Tourmaline and the Ichthus Lyceum have teamed up in a technology project for students. Both schools are affiliated with Techport | The Future of Manufacturing and Maintenance Industry and want to shape engineering education even better.
About a year ago, we had joined hands to establish cooperation. Thus, the technique coordinator of primary school the Tourmaline (Atlant primary education foundation) sought contact with the Technasium of the Ichthus Lyceum. With the request to work together on a technique project for group 7. The thought of technique coordinator Tim Bijker, was that the Tourmaline could ask a partner school if they wanted to share space and skills with the elementary school students in the field of technique. In this way, the Ichthus Lyceum, especially the Technasium, could raise its profile and persuade children to choose their school when they move from PO to VO.
Foeke Rozendaal and Marcel Hoogstoevenbeld of the Ichthus Lyceum together devised a lesson series for Group 7 of the Tourmaline. The children were allowed to make a design of an animal from cardboard in pairs. Using a Microbit, a part of that animal was put into motion. The lesson series consisted of 5 lessons. It was a great success and the project brought great added value to the students.
