Smart Maintenance Day
Today over 800 upper school students from seven secondary schools in the IJmond region were taken through the concept of Smart Maintenance. This is because Smart Maintenance is actually seen everywhere and is the future of technology. The students attended this first Smart Maintenance Day in Sporthal de Walvis in Beverwijk, where, in addition to seeing a film about Smart Maintenance, they could follow workshops using drones, robots, an F1 simulator and games with VR glasses.
The new maintenance is predictive and smart. Smart Maintenance, or smart maintenance ensures prevention and prediction instead of failure and repair. In the 7 Worlds of Engineering, you'll find plenty of examples of how Smart Maintenance is being applied. So too in the world of Living, Working & Traffic; think of Max Verstappen's Formula 1 car. The car tells - with sensors and algorithms - exactly when the tires will be worn out and need to be replaced. And to do the maintenance even smarter, tests are performed daily by Techport companies at Techport's Fieldlab Smart Maintenance.
At the Smart Maintenance Day, students learned more about what Smart Maintenance is and a number of Techport companies showed how they are already applying Smart Maintenance. Students also got a taste of the Nova College's mbo programs in Electrical Engineering, ICT, MyTec, Process Engineering and Mechanical Engineering that have Smart Maintenance broadening and deepening.
