Smart maintenance the success factor in motorsport
None other than Jan Lammers, former Formula 1 driver and currently working as sporting director of the Dutch Grand Prix, had yesterday cleared time in his calendar to speak in front of over a hundred entrepreneurs from the Techport network. Jan told a fascinating story about his career in racing, about his decision to quit his own racing team, about his 13-year-old son René who is doing remarkably well in karting and of course about what is involved in organizing a Formula 1 race.
He also made the link to smart maintenance. Because proper preparation prevents repairs. The use of data analysis ensures that drivers can prepare properly for a race and by using data in the right way it is now simply possible to change four tires on a car within 1.9 seconds.
And Techport wouldn't be Techport to also link to education. So before the networking drinks began, Jan struck up a conversation with Storm, a student at Technisch College Velsen. He also talked with Simon Jagers of Techport partner Samotics about the importance of smart maintenance.
The seminar Slim onderhoud dé succesfactor in autosport was made possible by OV IJmond, Techport, municipality of Velsen and Citymarketing Velsen | .IJmuiden.
