Heidelberg Materials is one of the world's largest integrated producers of building materials and solutions, with leading market positions in cement, aggregates and concrete in Belgium and the Netherlands.
It employs a total of about 2,200 employees across 80 locations. Environmental responsibility is at the heart of their actions. As a forerunner on the road to CO2 neutrality, Heidelberg Materials develops material solutions for the future. At their site in IJmuiden, they produce around 1 million tons of cement for the Dutch market with around 45 colleagues.
By working together and networking, we can solve the challenges of the future. We cannot do this alone, for this we need influx of school leavers interested in technology. Together with local educational institutions and supported by Techport, they must be trained for the jobs of the future. Relative to the global cement industry, we are leading the way towards CO2 neutrality. We are doing this by actively working on deployment of alternative raw materials with our own developments and partnerships. Already cement stone is being recovered from concrete recycling, urban mines.

We devise and build process lines for blasting and coating long steel objects such as pipes and tubes. We supply these all over the world to companies that apply the coatings to pipe segments in order to subsequently build a safe energy network. So indirectly, we ensure that the world is supplied with (green) energy.
When it comes to the transportation of energy, the world is in transition. From traditional sources such as oil, water and gas, a shift is taking place to more sustainable sources such as hydrogen, biogas and CO2. Our green mission is "Enhancing the planet's resource infrastructure with digital precision. This objective aligns one-to-one with Techport's mission to become the first green industrial zone in the Netherlands.
In recent years we have scrutinized our own processes in terms of cleaner production. That meant a huge change in working methods. For example, we work with 'digital twins' to test our designs virtually. This eliminates errors before production takes place. This saves working hours, manpower and emissions. In this way, we also indirectly reduce our customers' carbon footprint.
Selmers has been established in the region since 1966 and therefore has the IJmond region at heart. Selmers' core values are cooperation and taking responsibility. Through the cooperation with Techport, we hope to partner with companies with the same objective, in order to learn from each other, exchange experiences and become better known regionally.
We develop machines that can peel, cut, core and wedge fruits and vegetables. We sell these machines to processors such as Vezet and Hessing, who in turn, thanks to the machines, supply the products ready-to-eat to major supermarkets.
There are two main reasons why we became Techport Company Plus. The main reason is that we are currently in transition as a company. We are transforming from a traditional mechanical company to a robotics/artificial intelligence-driven company. This is changing the work for our employees, as executive labor is being replaced by knowledge labor. We are going to make this transformation together with Techport and with the help of the Just Transition Fund.
The other reason is that we are affiliated with Tech Valley. This organization is active in the Kop van Noord-Holland region. Within Tech Valley, over 60 innovative regional manufacturing companies work together on knowledge development and innovation. In the future, we hope that Techport and Tech Valley will work together. Among other things, we want to collect knowledge from Techport in the field of Tiny Machine Learning for this transition, but they also want to contribute their acquired knowledge

We are an independent Consultancy & Engineering firm. Our family business has been working on single and multidisciplinary projects for many different clients for 60 years. Our engineers supervise the most diverse projects from start to finish. And we also carry out the engineering for these projects. We like to be challenged by the industry to come up with the best solutions. Our focus is on seven markets: energy, heavy industry, buildings, tank terminals, food & pharma, chemicals and refineries.
We became a partner of Techport because we think it is important to stay connected to tomorrow's market. And especially not to watch from the sidelines to see what will happen next. We became a member of Mytec last year because we see it as our social duty to train technicians in this region. Becoming a member of the Techport network is then a logical step for us. After all, Techport has proven over the past 10 years that it is more than just a cozy chat club with the region's companies. The Innovation Centre is one of the tangible results of that. We want to make our contribution to that by adding and enriching knowledge gained. I am personally convinced that enough great projects will follow if we from the region put our shoulders to the wheel but are also open to sharing knowledge. The cake is big enough for everyone, we just have to make sure that each company gets the right piece when it is divided up.

We are an ISO and VCA certified blasting & coating company with one branch in Velsen-Noord near Tata Steel and one branch in the port area of IJmuiden. We also have a mobile department that carries out work on location at home and abroad.
Short lines and commitment
For over 60 years we have been skilled in blasting, coating and painting various materials such as structures, pipes, chimneys, tanks, appliances, floors and bridges. We believe in commitment and short lines. This is reflected not only in our operations but also in our contact with our customers. Our production managers take care of the planning and proper execution of your orders.
We consider it important to carry out assignments with competent personnel. And that the safety , health and welfare of all our employees, temporary workers and third parties is guaranteed and that with respect to the environment those measures are taken so that the risks of environmental damage are minimized or even eliminated. We hope by joining Techport to find a piece of innovation in that area and to get a different perspective on certain issues.
We are the world's first and leading manufacturer of fully bonded thermoplastic composite tubing (TCP). TCP provides the optimal solution for applications in flowline, sweater and riser applications for the Renewable and Energy markets. TCP does not corrode, is spoolable in long lengths, is lightweight and reduces installation and maintenance costs. TCP reduces CO2 emissions from pipeline infrastructure by more than 50% compared to steel.
We are an ambitious, technically innovative company in the middle of the IJmond region. Partly due to the energy transition, we see opportunities to grow. We are therefore permanently looking for new personnel. As a manufacturing company with a high-tech production process, we have jobs for very practical people. As well as jobs for people who prefer technical theory and everything in between, with and without experience.
Techport is an organization that can put us in touch with the technical talent in the IJmond region. We hope that through activities in Techport we can make them enthusiastic for working in technology and a job at Strohm. In this way we can also contribute to training people in technique. We think we can achieve this by participating in field-labs, innovation challenges, giving guest lectures and offering internships.
Combining energy savings and operational reliability with convenience and insights into energy consumption is what EnergyKoNneX stands for. We offer smart energy solutions by combining energy management with energy storage. The strength is in the integral design.
Helping with energy savings and business security
We contribute to sustainability and the energy transition by providing business battery and energy management solutions that allow everyone to store their generated energy. This allows you to be independent, self-sufficient and pay a fair price for your power. And is there a power outage? Your battery takes over, so your business continues as usual.
Insight, convenience and savings
We focus primarily on SMEs and medium-sized manufacturing companies. Our range of battery systems in combination with energy management can help these companies with reliability and significant energy savings. The starting point is always an energy measurement to see where we need to focus energy management. Insight, convenience and savings are the keywords that come up in every design.
As a partner of Techport, we strive for active cooperation and knowledge sharing. Through Techport, we want to further develop early-stage innovations together with educational institutions and other innovative companies. In the interaction between our activities and those of other companies, we expect to realize further innovations. We also want to make an active contribution to business continuity of manufacturing companies in the IJmond region. Through Techport, we hope to make contact with companies that we can support in analyzing their energy flows and implementing suitable energy storage and management solutions.
