We recognized early on the impact of digitization on the paper market and as a result have become a market and knowledge leader in paper for high speed inkjet printing. We have also developed products for specific applications in labels and packaging. Our focus is on establishing close partnerships with customers and creating added value. Municipality of Velsen is a great place to live, work and recreate: partly due to its convenient location by the sea, National Park and port and close to Amsterdam, Haarlem and Schiphol Airport. Fishing, offshore and a strong manufacturing industry characterize IJmuiden.

The municipality of Beverwijk consists of the town of Beverwijk and the village of Wijk aan Zee and has a population of 41,176. Heemskerk consists of two main areas: the vast Noordhollands dune reserve (5 kilometers), bordered by the wide North Sea beach, and the residential area with lots of space and greenery. In addition, Heemskerk has a large horticultural area with many greenhouses and two business parks. One of these, De Trompet, is considered a national example for sustainability and economical use of energy.
For IJmond, of which the municipality of Heemskerk is a part, the manufacturing and maintenance industry is of great importance. To be future-proof, regional cooperation of different parties (companies, education and government) is essential. Techport is this network! Tata Steel's immense industrial site in IJmuiden - 750 hectares in all - has 17 factories and adjacent facilities that are intensively intertwined. The entire steel production process happens here: from the supply of raw materials - coal and iron ore - to the loading of ready-to-use rolls of steel to customers.
Close coordination between all these links is crucial to ensure the continuity of steel production. Needless to say, scheduling maintenance is then a complex job.
Every year, entire sections of the site experience a summer shutdown of several days, during which factories and facilities are completely shut down. For regular maintenance, some 600 maintenance professionals walk around the plants.
With Techport, we have a great connection with education and the manufacturing industry in the region, among other things. Techport is also located at the Tata Steel Academy, making it a good location and basis for a partnership.
