Kart team Academy Tata Steel wins First Electro League
ZWOLLE - The Academy karting team is winner of the First Electro League. On the final day at karting center Zwolle, the team won the endurace test and picked up the most points when judging the innovations on the kart. In doing so, the team achieved just enough points to take the grand prize back to Velsen. The Hub van Doorne College from Deurne took second and third place.
"We did a very nice job," said Danny Jansen, coach at the Academy and, along with coach Dennis Cornielje, supervisor of the karting team. "After all, it's not nothing if you can win three out of five categories. We are really proud of that. Dennis Cornielje: "Especially when you see that in the innovations we narrowly beat the Graafschap College from Doetinchem and over all only took 7 points more than the number two. Yes, it was close this year. The boys and girls of the karting team just did really well."
Electric
The First Electro League is a competition in which twelve teams from ROCs and secondary schools compete against each other in the field of electric driving. The teams maintain and innovate their own kart. They have to successfully complete various driving tests on four Track Days. And each time the teams are judged on organization, planning and safety. On the final day, the most points can be collected. Then the innovations are also judged and the teams receive points for their presentation on the team performance of the past school year.

The competition consists of several parts. Below is the overview including the maximum number of points to be earned (brackets), the winner and the number of points earned.

- Speed & Endurance (60) - Academy Tata Steel: 44 pt
- Safety & Organization (120) - Academy Tata Steel: 98 pt
- Innovation (60) - Academy Tata Steel: 49 pt
- Communiction (60) - Hub Van Doorne Team 2: 55 pt
A total of 340 points were up for grabs this study year. The Academy team picked up a total of 245 points.
