Three Techport projects help companies recruit, retain and develop technical employees
In a short time, Techport, together with a number of partners, has launched three promising projects in the field of labor market and HR: the pilot of the Techport Technique Garden, the Strategic HR project and the collaboration project Techport Techheroes. Program Leader Action Line Working Suzan Buss: "These projects will enable SMEs in the region to start recruiting, retaining and developing personnel in various ways. This is badly needed, because the energy transition in North Holland alone will require more than 12,000 additional employees until 2030."
Tech heroes: interest and motivation is enough
On Thursday, July 4, the Techport Techheroes project kicked off; a collaboration with five innovative Techport companies where people are central. Techheroes is interesting for everyone who wants to work in the IJmond technology sector. Experience is not important, what counts is interest and motivation. The project brings people who are interested in an accessible way in contact with the companies involved. Together we look at what technical skills are needed and what might be a suitable position. If after a while it turns out that there is no match, the participant can get a job at one of the other companies. The companies participating in Techheroes are: BLOK System Supply, Facta, Facta Elektrotechniek, Hoogewerf Engineering b.v. and KUUK.
Techport Technique Garden: pilot completed, four participants get contract
On Tuesday, July 2, the Techport Technique Garden pilot was concluded after a 12-week course. The Techniektuin is aimed at getting new entrants into a technical profession. The focus of this pilot was on lateral entrants with a distance to the labor market. The nine participants received technology lessons at the Nova Campus in Beverwijk, received guest lessons from companies and had internships. Four of the nine participants received a contract with one of the participating companies, and ten participants remain in engineering. They all received a certificate of participation. We are all very proud of this result! The Techniektuin IJmond is a collaboration of Techport, the Province of North Holland, WerkgeversServicePunt ZKIJ, Haprotech Lasopleidingen and the Nova College in Beverwijk. A new pilot will start in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Strategic HR: SMEs actively pursuing HR policy
The tight labor market and especially the shortage of technically skilled personnel requires employers to actively work on their HR policy. With the Strategic HR project, Techport facilitates strategic HR services for SMEs. To this end, two strategic HR advisors are being deployed who will advise the companies, think along with them and bring them into contact with relevant parties and services. Think of creative ways of recruiting, advice to retain employees and tips to improve the development and mutual knowledge sharing of personnel. The HR advice and deployment is customized and therefore different for each company. Thanks to a contribution from the Just Transition Fund, the Province of North Holland and the RBA Zuid-Kennemerland IJmond , this project was recently launched. The ultimate goal of Strategic HR is to help 75 companies with their HR issues in three years.
