Techport Technology Week is starting up again!
From October 5 to 9 is Techport Technology Week. A week in which students in grade 8 of elementary school, junior high school, parents and teachers are immersed in the 7 worlds of technology.
New technologies, innovations and digitalization will ensure that in the coming years there will be plenty of job opportunities in the fields of engineering, technology and ICT. Especially in IJmond the jobs are there for the taking due to the presence of major players such as Tata Steel, Crown van Gelder, the lock complex and the rise of offshore wind. Within Techport, companies, government and schools are working together to ensure sufficient recruitment for the technological professions.
Due to tightened Corona measures, all events will take place online this year.
Tech Your Talent Quiz
For lower secondary schools, the Tech Your Talent quiz will be played via livestream. Schools compete against each other by answering questions posed by tech heroes from the region. Organizations participating in the quiz include Microtechnology, Cornelis Vrolijk, CareWorx, MHI Vestas, Tata Steel, De Bie Buitenwerk and Bouwmensen. The winner will receive the one and only Tech Your Talent trophy!
In addition, students will have a Q&A session with Mindy Howard, the first Dutch female astronaut to go into space.
Program for parents
The role parents play in choosing an advanced education for a child is great. That is why Techport believes it is important to also give parents insight into the possibilities of working in engineering. On Tuesday, October 6 at 7 p.m., parents can therefore take part in the online Tech Your Talent quiz together with their son or daughter from group 8. Together they will compete against other parents and children for the win. Participation in this livestream event is free. You can register viahttps://techport.nl/en/agenda/programma-voor-ouders/

iMaintain Techport Congress 2020
For business, school administrators and government, the annual Techport Networking Event is Friday, Oct. 9. Via a livestream, this conference can be followed online for free. This year's program is organized in cooperation with iMaintain, with the theme "Together strong for maintenance. The congress focuses on sharing experiences in the field of cooperation within Techport and in the field of Smart Maintenance. Maintenance is a word that does not often appear in the speech from the throne. The iMaintain platform therefore thinks it is high time to establish its own 'Shadow Parliament of Maintenance'. During this congress, topics will be debated that should strengthen the state of Dutch assets. Both in infrastructure and industry. More information and registration is available at:https://techport.nl/en/agenda/techport-netwerkevent/
Engineering study day for teachers
For the teachers of the Techport schools, a technology program will be offered on the study day during this week. This time not from the sports hall, but from their own school through live stream. The teachers will be offered an interactive program with a lecture, a show by experimentation expert Boy from Quest Jr. and also get to work with technology themselves.
