Actively working on HR policy thanks to 'Strategic HR' project

With the Strategic HR project, Techport is facilitating strategic HR services for SMEs. Thanks to a contribution from the Just Transition Fund, this project can now get underway. The main goal of Strategic HR is to improve inflow, retention of current employees and to recruit new employees in creative ways. This is badly needed, because the energy transition in North Holland alone will require over 12,000 additional employees until 2030. The current tight labor market and in particular the shortage of technically skilled personnel requires employers to actively engage with their HR policies.

We want to achieve this goal by deploying HR advisors who will work with the companies on a strategy. The first HR advisor started at the beginning of June: Joaquin Urbina. He has already had introductory talks with a number of companies. The second meeting consists of an intake that looks at where the company needs help and advice. Joaquin: "What I have found so far is that most issues are about retaining existing employees and recruiting new employees in creative ways. I also see that organizations want to further professionalize or future-proof their HR department, but are not sure how to go about it. With this project, we can help with that in a very targeted and customized way."

The ultimate goal of Strategic HR is to help 75 companies with their HR issues in three years. Joaquin: "By participating in this project, you get a lot of expertise at your disposal, plus an HR plan. We think many SME entrepreneurs can really take a step forward with this."
