5000 visitors for largest technology promotion event in the Netherlands
More than 5,000 visitors attended Techport Technology Week. This week was entirely dedicated to enthusing about working and learning in technology. 4550 students from the 74 primary and secondary schools attended workshops, played online quizzes or went on company visits. And also 100 parents, 150 teachers and 200 representatives of Techport companies visited the week.
Nationwide, there is a great shortage of technicians. Especially in the IJmond region, where the manufacturing and maintenance industry is large, we notice this. This is why Techport, together with partner companies and schools, is organizing Techport Technology Week. The week in which students, parents and teachers are enthused about technology. We let them experience and discover where technology is, and especially what opportunities there are for a bright future in technology.
Sporthal de Walvis in Beverwijk was the setting for an impressive event for students during the Promotional Event Techniek and the Smart Maintenance Day, featuring a unique light show and more than 40 technology do-activities. On Wednesday, the sports hall was transformed for a special study day for elementary school teachers. During Tech Your Talent on Tour, students visited 14 Techport companies and an online PET Quiz took place where they competed for the one and only PET IJmond trophy. At Tata Steel there was a hybrid networking event for the Techport network with the theme Smart Transition.
