Thus, these 17 projects and/or entrepreneurs are contributing to making the IJmond region more sustainable
Last Friday, May 31, the Techport Innovation Centre was festively opened. The Techport Innovation Centre is the development and meeting center for the technicians of the future, companies, education and government in the Metropolitan Region of Amsterdam, with a focus on IJmond. From this 'hub', various companies and educational institutions will work on innovations in the fields of cleaner and circular production, more energy-efficient maintenance and more sustainable transport. On the way to the first green industrial zone of the Netherlands!
During the opening, several projects from the region showed through a mini-exhibition how their innovations contribute to a sustainable IJmond region. We list them here:
ZTI Smart Machines
ZTI Smart Machines develops energy-efficient machines for peeling, cutting, de-coring and wedging fruits and vegetables. This reduces food waste. ZTI is also moving away from traditional mechanical techniques to more advanced robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). This in turn improves the efficiency and sustainability of their production processes. Look here for more information.
Triply
Triply provides sustainable transportation solutions such as promoting electric driving, bicycling and other forms of environmentally friendly transportation. This reduces harmful emissions and makes the air in the region cleaner. They also help companies optimize their logistics processes using data analysis, for example. Look here for more information.
Blok System Supply
Blok System Supply is an expert in engineering, innovation and development. Their vision is to develop every product and associated process more efficiently. For example, they took the disinfection robot last Friday, May 31. For more information about Blok System Supply, look here.
Innomax
Innomax helps companies make their production processes more sustainable. For example, by designing more energy-efficient machines or developing systems that minimize waste. Innomax also supports and guides start-ups and other companies in the region in the development of sustainable innovations. This includes guidance, financing and technical support to bring sustainable ideas to life. Look here for more information.
Z-Bridge
Z-Bridge specializes in building, designing and leasing offshore systems. With the 'Walk-to-Work' and 'Bring-to-Work' system they provide a safe and efficient way of working for their clients. During the exhibition they used Virtual Reality to show how the system works and which processes are followed for this. Look here for more information.
Knowledge Insight
Knowledge Insight is an organization dedicated to promoting sustainability and innovation within businesses and communities. Their activities are broad and include research, consulting, education, and support for technological innovations. Look here for more information.
Rabobank
Rabobank helps companies and organizations in the IJmond region that want to become more sustainable. They do this by offering loans, subsidies and other financial instruments, as well as advice on sustainable business models and help in implementing energy-efficient technologies and processes. For more information, see here.
NOVA College
Sustainability is woven into NOVA College's educational programs. Students learn about sustainable practices and technologies, making them better prepared to contribute to a green economy. This includes courses in environmental science, renewable energy, circular economy and green technologies. During the exhibition, students displayed a homemade, floating wind turbine. For more information, see here.
Hogeschool van Amsterdam
The Hogeschool van Amsterdam conducts various research projects in cooperation with Techport and affiliated Techport companies. These focus on themes such as renewable energy, Tiny Machine Learning and other sustainable themes. In this way they try to develop innovative solutions for the sustainability challenges facing the IJmond region. Look here for more information.
Tata Steel Academy
The Tata Steel Academy contributes to making the IJmond region more sustainable through various initiatives and programs aimed at sustainability, innovation, and the training of technical staff within the steel industry. They also support research projects aimed at developing new, sustainable steel production methods. They displayed the impressive H2 kart, which runs entirely on hydrogen, during the exhibition. Look here for more information.
Symphony Wave Power
Symphony Wave develops and implements technologies that convert wave energy into electricity. Wave energy is a renewable energy source that has less environmental impact compared to fossil fuels. By generating power from waves, Symphony Wave reduces dependence on fossil fuels and thus contributes to reducing CO2 emissions in the IJmond region. Look here for more information.
BlueHeart Energy
BlueHeart Energy's heat pumps produce heat and cold without the use of fossil fuels or harmful refrigerants, significantly reducing CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions. BlueHeart Energy's heat pumps are suitable for a wide range of home types, including poorly insulated homes. This makes the technology more accessible and widely applicable, enabling the energy transition in different types of buildings. Look here for more information.
Phoenix Metals
Phoenix Metals wants batteries to become truly circular. With the Vanadium Electrolyte project, they are developing a process for extracting the chemical element Vanadium and other valuable components from steel slag. There is increasing demand for this because this type of battery has five times more charging cycles than lithium-ion batteries. They are also safer and easier to recycle. Look here for more information.
Strategic HR from Techport
With this project, Techport facilitates strategic HR services for SMEs in the IJmond region. The focus is on maintenance and installation companies, which contribute to making the industry more sustainable. Participating companies and their employees receive concrete help in meeting their HR challenges in a future-oriented manner. The primary goal is to improve inflow, retention and development of workers for engineering and energy transition. Look here for more information.
AE Group's WaveHexapod
The WaveHexapod converts wave energy into electrical energy. Wave energy has been extracted for some time, but commercial initiatives are still scarce and, in addition, the efficiency is lower than that of the WaveHexapod. Where known systems only move up and down, the WaveHexapod can capture much more energy by absorbing the full wave rotation (both horizontal and vertical energy) with the six generators attached to three floats. See here for more information.
TES Industrial Systems
TES Industrial Systems Beverwijk develops and manufactures sustainable industrial drive concepts and industrial automation solutions. They contribute to making industry more sustainable by, among other things, using ultracaps that are used in various industrial and maritime cranes. This saves energy and fuel, reduces CO2 and nitrogen emissions and thus contributes to the sustainability of the business process, but also extends the 'lifecycle' of these capital-intensive installations. Look here for more information.
Green Incubator Techport
The Green Incubator is an acceleration program specifically for SMEs and startups whose product, service or innovation is still in the development phase. There is already some traction, such as sales or deals already closed. The team of the startup or SME is strong, flexible and able to move quickly. During the Green Incubator, it is investigated whether the market really needs this innovation. For more information, look here.
