Nova College and Knowledge Insight work together to strengthen digital education in engineering

Digitization has major implications for the job market. But it also has major implications for the training institutes and trainers who train current and future employees. In addition, the job pool will be further strained in the coming years. Because there is a declining intake of students, while experienced personnel are retiring due to retirement. On top of that come changes in the market like Product As A Service, increased pressure on availability of capital equipment and not least corona, making the deployment of already scarce personnel even more difficult. Challenges we are going to face in the short and long term.

To address all of these challenges, Knowledge Insight developed a method to capture working methods, implement them in a structured way and provide paperless feedback from the field. All this hands-free while technicians (and students) simply do their jobs. People in the field can also consult with a colleague (expert) by voice at any time to maximize efficiency and knowledge transfer.

Together with Nova College, programs are now being developed for education and testing of (young) technicians for study areas such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, Automotive and Maritime. Nova College and Knowledge Insight are acting together during Techport Technology Week. They try to motivate young students for the many wonderful fields of study that engineering has to offer. After all, technology is not dirty and old-fashioned. On the contrary, it is modern, sometimes demanding but always advancing.

The partnership with Techport has several reasons for Knowledge Insight:

  • Getting to know a network of potential users for their solutions.
  • Techport sits in a region where much innovation and growth can be expected in the near future, with the associated staffing challenges.
  • Knowledge Insight would like to help motivate people to choose engineering as a field of study - it offers many choices, there is a lot of work (now and in the future) and perhaps most importantly - it is fun and interesting.

From Knowledge Insight, the collaboration with Nova College will also embrace the provision of specialists for guest lectures. In this way, all parties can learn from each other and strengthen each other.
