Successful online edition Tech Your Talent Show

On Monday, Oct. 5 and Tuesday, Oct. 6, was the Tech Your Talent Show for secondary school students from the region during Techport Technology Week. In the livestream show, students could ask questions of astronaut Mindy Howard and competed with as many as 135 teams consisting of more than 700 students for the one and only Tech Your Talent trophy.

Students from several schools in the region, including Kennemer College, Technisch College Velsen, Tender College, Jac. P. Thijsse College and Bonhoeffer College had a Q&A session with Mindy Howard, the first Dutch female astronaut to go into space. They got answers to questions like "Do you also have to keep 1.5 meters distance in space?" and "Do you think aliens exist?".

In addition, the students competed against each other by answering technical questions. The questions the children had to answer included "How many roof tiles go into 1m²?" and "How many households can be powered by 220 wind turbines?". These questions were asked by various technology heroes from the region. Organizations that participated included Microtechnology, Cornelis Vrolijk, CareWorx, MHI Vestas, Tata Steel, De Bie Buitenwerk and Bouwmensen.

Techport Technology Week 2020

The Tech Your Talent TV Show is part of the online Techport Technology Week. From October 5 through 9, students in grade 8 of primary and lower secondary schools, parents and teachers will be immersed in the 7 worlds of technology. The goal of this week is to interest as many students as possible in technology.
