On 18 January, development partners, customers and schools (MBO, HBO, WO) came together for the kick-off of 'Fieldlab Smart Energy Techport'. In the coming years, Techport, together with its business and education partners, will focus on energy efficiency, nuisance reduction and Smart Maintenance using digital technologies.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tiny Machine Learning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sensor technology, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) can make a major contribution to reducing emissions and using energy more efficiently in production and maintenance processes. A challenge that many (production) companies and asset owners are currently facing. By placing sensors on assets, predictive maintenance is immediately visible, saving costs and increasing efficiency. The aim of the Fieldlab Smart Energy project is to use the technology of Tiny Machine Learning make it sustainably accessible to industrial SMEs<\/em> and support industry in the targeted deployment of this technology with the aim of reducing energy consumption and emissions as well as the efficient use of renewable energy sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Successful use case<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the kick-off, one of the ongoing use cases from producer VanDerEng<\/a> where energy monitoring can prevent peak loads with the aim of better spreading energy consumption. Director VanDerEng Ernst de Haas says: \"More measurement and analysis leads to a better grip on energy consumption, among other things. I had insight into my total consumption, but had no idea what a machine consumes in terms of energy per unit which made it more difficult to take steps in terms of energy reduction.\" Students from the Hogeschool van Amsterdam then set to work during the Data Science minor to place sensors on the machines to collect data. With success!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Register use case<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only with VanDerEng, successes were also achieved in four other completed use cases. De Haas continued: \"I urge all fellow entrepreneurs with technical challenges in the field of energy transition to join this innovative project, so much more is possible without becoming pricey or too complex!\" Several use cases with Tiny Machine Learning will start again soon within the Fieldlab Smart Energy project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
